Lessons are 40 minutes long, unless otherwise stated.

Location

AYM operates from Mount Aspiring College in Wanaka.

Plenty of parking on Plantation Road (due to H&S please do not use the steep driveway to the music rooms).  Get in touch if you need to access disabled parking.

Groupings

Lessons will be tiered according to students’ ages and abilities.
Group classes are 40 minutes in duration unless specified otherwise.
Absolute beginner lessons will have an experienced teacher alongside a student teacher to support learning.
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students will be grouped together for instruments and classes, we recommend booking based on your childs skill level.

Minimum Age:

Classes have a minimum age of entry:

  • Introduction to Music – 6 and 7 years only
  • Introduction to Percussion and Drumming – 7 years +
  • Beginner Keyboard – 7 years
  • Keyboard – 8 years
  • Ukulele  – 8 years
  • Guitar – 9 years
  • Drums – 11 years
  • Drama – Junior 8 years
  • Drama – Senior Yr7+
  • Trumpet – 8 Years


Introduction to Music is for 6 and 7 year olds and is split into:

  • Level 1 – two terms
  • Level 2 – a further two terms (optional for some older students)

Class Sizes

  • Most instrument classes have a maximum of 4 students.
  • Drama classes can have larger groups
  • 2:1 and 1:1 lessons may be available on request and fees adjusted accordingly . (See the table below)

Fees

  • All fees are based on the school term dates (which varies between 8 -11 weeks).
  • No lessons on public holidays.
  • The rates per student are:

Payment

  • Payment to be made online by Credit/Debit card.
  • Student enrolment and payment is to be made by credit/debit card on line, on our website, and is by the term. Lessons missed by individual students are unable to be refunded or made up.
  • In exceptional circumstances if you are sick or absent longer term, please speak directly with AYM.
  • If the teacher is away or sick a replacement teacher will take the lesson.
  • Students may be required to buy music books at the direction of the teacher.
  • Please contact us if you need to pay by installments.

Commitment

  • Turn up for every lesson on time, prepared with their music and instrument (if required)
  • Have regular focused home practice
  • Have a good attitude to learning, which means listening and applying themselves
  • And remember to have fun!

Enrollment Instructions

Returning Students

Returning Students should not register again. Use your username and password to login and enrol for next terms’ classes.

  1. Click the Login Now button below to login with your username and password that you were issued in Term 1.
  2. Once logged in – go to Tasks >> Purchases and Bookings
  3. Click the categories to show the classes available, and the checkboxes to select the correct ones, then click Continue.
  4. If you need to register for more classes, or  have other students to register for classes, do so as above
  5. Once ready too proceed, click “Make a Payment link (or go to Tasks >> Make a Payment)
  6. Click the “Pay by Credit Card” button and enter your card details.
  7. On confirmation, you should have an email from AYM with your enrolment details, so you can enrol for additional classes or update your details.
  8. The enrollment process is now complete.
Returning Students - Login Now

New Students

  1. Click the button below to start the enrolment process
  2. Click the Enrol Student button and follow the steps.
  3. You will be asked to Register Parent/Guardian too.
  4. Use the same email address and password for Student and Parent/Guardian.
  5. When you have entered all required family members, click the Continue button, and OK on the warning popup.
  6. On the next screen – you can enrol the student(s) for the chosen class.
  7. Click the categories to show the classes available, and the checkboxes to select the correct ones, then click Continue.
  8. Double check your email address, and Continue.
  9. Confirm your details and Continue.
  10. On the confirmation screen, click the “Pay by Credit Card” button and enter your card details.  Do get in touch if you want to discuss payment terms.
  11. On confirmation, you should have an email from AYM with your login details, so you can enrol for additional classes or update your details.
  12. The enrollment process is now complete.
